Product Overview

Rust Kavach is formulated to stabilize rusted mild steel surfaces and provide a chemically converted surface suitable for painting. It emulsifies residual moisture present on the surface into the film during painting; this moisture evaporates during drying leaving a stable, adhesive layer for topcoats.

Recommended as a primer on bare M.S. surfaces. For previously painted surfaces remove loose paint and contaminants before application.

Prior Check

Ensure surface is free from grease, oil, and loose scale. Remove loose particles with 100 no. emery paper or wire brushing.
The surface must be reasonably dry. Remove soluble salts and contaminants where present.

Steps

Mix Mineral Turpentine Oil (M.T.O.) 15%–20% with Rust Kavach if needed to make it brushable or sprayable as per site conditions.
Apply Rust Kavach directly to bare M.S. surface — two coats are recommended with a 6–8 hour gap between coats under normal conditions.
On pre-painted surfaces, remove as much existing paint as possible (paint remover/mechanical removal) to allow Rust Kavach to contact rusted metal.

Special Notes

Note: Must be applied directly on bare M.S. surface for optimal conversion. On previously painted substrates, remove loose paint and contaminants for best results.
